Mon 15th Mar 2021 Starting my own business was only ever a thought 18 months ago. I had spent the last 10 years in the finance sector, helping someone else build their business and brand. I would play the corporate game and continue to climb the ladder, applying for promotions I didn't really want, accepting more responsibility and spreading myself thin. Towards the end I was stressed, tired and generally unfulfilled.

I took a risk, quit my career in Unsecured Lending and enrolled myself on to an intensive full time Men's Hairdressing Course. Upon completion I obtained my first self employed role as a stylist working within an independent business. Six months in I was more or less running the salon, filling my column and building a loyal clientele. 

I researched funding options available to Start Up's and after a gruelling 6 months of business plans, financial forecasting and customer research I was offered financing via Virgin Start Up's. Obtaining my own commercial premises, creating my own brand and truly building my future has been the most fulfilling task I have ever completed. 

I was warned the first year in business would be the hardest, but was not prepared to face a global pandemic. I traded for 3 days prior to the initial National Lockdown in March 2020.

2020 Accountancy has helped me through these unprecedented times and advised me how to utilise the resources available to ensure I can reopen my doors to the public once again. Diana is always only a phone call or email away.

I am now preparing to start trading again from April 2021, with a full team and a healthy bank balance. Being your own boss is tough, but I look forward to reaping the benefits as soon as normal life resumes.
