Setting up a Facebook Page as a Contractor

Sat 1st Jul 2017

Having a Facebook Page for your Contractor Business is a must! With more than 2 billion monthly active users as of June 2017, many of whom are most likely to be interested to your business, having a Facebook Page will help reach those individuals, build awareness and increase loyalty. At 2020 Accountancy, we use Facebook amongst Twitter and LinkedIn to reach our target audience.

As well as the above, your interaction on social media gives customers the sense that they know you and your business, they trust you and can engage with you directly. In turn, this’ll make them more likely to recommend your services. There’s even an option for people to leave reviews, which you can thank them for publically for new customers to see.

So how do you set up a Facebook Page? It’s simple!

Establish Page Admins

Before creating your Facebook Business Page, you must establish a personal Facebook profile. The individual in that profile is the creator of the page. You won’t have a separate login, it’s all controlled from your own Page but have no fear, your personal details won’t be shown and you’ll access it all via Facebook for Business, a separate part of your personal page. It’s easy to allocate aAdmins later on, who can help manage and support the page too.

Creating the Page

Click ‘Create a Page’ here to get started > https://www.facebook.com/business/. It’ll ask you which type of business you are and as a Contractor, we’d recommend opting for ‘Local Business or place’ or ‘Company, Organisation or Institution’.

Naming & Blurb

Your page name can be your business name or another name that people may search for to find your business. Use the About section to tell people a bit about what your business does, adding a phone number and other contact details to make sure it's easy to get in touch with you. You can even add a 'Call To Action' button detailing what action you would like your potential new clients to take, eg sign up to a newsletter, give you a call, etc!

Profile Photo

Choose photos that represent your business well. Where possible, use your logo as your profile photo and one from a current marketing campaign as your cover photo. Make sure the images are not blurry or too busy. Less is often more!

Facebook will walk you through the steps, it's as easy as that! Once you're setup, you can start publishing news, info, links to your website and even have the ability to use targeted advertising to reach a local audience.
